Chili Supper to Benefit Salifu Kamara

Members and friends of First Unitarian are invited to a chili supper at the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury (140 and Main) on Saturday, November 14th. The dinner, sponsored by their youth group and ours, is to benefit Salifu Kamara, former child soldier from Sierra Leone, now a student of Peace Studies at Clark University. Since escaping at age 15 (he was captured at 9, when his entire family was killed) Salifu has spoken at churches and colleges about the conditions that give rise to the conscription of young children (boys AND girls) in military campaigns world-wide. Salifu has received a full scholarship to Clark, but needs a relatively small amount of money for books and fees.

Tickets for the chili supper will be available after church this Sunday. Or call Paul Kelly at 508 792-9661. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children, $25.00 for families. Seatings at 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.
